UN to discuss Water, Energy, and Food Security issues in Tunisia

Tunis, November 13, 2024 (ECA) – The Economic Commission for Africa Office for North Africa will hold, in partnership with the Resident Coordinator's Office in Tunisia and UN Habitat Maghreb, a workshop on Water, Energy and Food Security issues in the country, in Tunis on 14 November 2024.

Participants at this event will explore issues and challenges related to food, water and energy security in Tunisia as well as potential solutions to mitigate their effects at both the national and local levels.

The meeting will be an opportunity to study the role of sustainable agriculture in ensuring food security in Tunisia, and related challenges.

Additionally, participants will be introduced to the "Nexus" approach and how it can allow for the development of public policies and programs that take into account the close interconnections between energy security, food security, and water security, and their social, ecological, and economic implications.

Participants at the "Water-Energy-Food Security in Tunisia" workshop will include representatives from the government, municipalities, international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and academia.
