SME Resilience, Access to Finance and the AfCFTA at the heart of ECA High Level Dialogue in North Africa

Rabat, 18 October 2024 (ECA) – The ECA Office in North Africa is holding a High-level Policy Dialogue on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in North Africa on 21-22 October 2024.

This event will bring together senior Libyan, Mauritanian and Moroccan officials with the goal of identifying and recommending policies that can strengthen North African SMEs’ resilience to economic and climate shocks.

Discussions will focus on topics such as the role SMEs can play in favour of economic diversification and gender inclusion in North Africa; the traditional and innovative financing mechanisms currently available to SMEs; good practices for strengthening SME resilience to climate change, especially for vulnerable sectors such as agriculture or manufacturing; and how SMEs can make the most of the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

This meeting will take place with the participation of experts and representatives of North African Ministries of Industry, Trade, Economy and Sustainable Development, international development organizations, financial institutions, the AfCFTA Secretariat and North African SME leaders and entrepreneurs.
