Migration Statistics: Abidjan Officials’ Training to Focus on Results-Based Management

Abidjan, 02 December 2023 (ECA) – The Ministry Delegate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, in charge of African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, is holding, in partnership with the ECA Office in North Africa, a training workshop on migration statistics and results-based management on 5-6 December 2023 in Abidjan.

The meeting aims to strengthen national capacities in migration statistics, with a focus on Results-Based Management (RBM), its tools, indicators, and how these can be used for the effective management of migration issues.

Ultimately, the goal is to equip national officials with reliable and relevant data to guide public policies’ management of migration related issues.

Participants in the training will include officials from the Ministry Delegate in charge of African Integration and Ivorians Abroad; the Ministries of Agriculture; Interior; Youth; Higher Education; Employment; Technical Education as well as representatives from the National Population Office; the youth employment agency (Agence Emploi Jeune); the Ivorian Centre for Economics and Social Sciences (CIRES); ENSEA and civil society representatives.

Côte d'Ivoire is considered a destination country for migrants in West Africa with 22 percent of its national population being migrants.
