Online, 25 August 2021 – The Pan-African Institute for Statistics Statafric will hold a round table on “Enhancing migration data and evidence-based policy making in Africa: recent initiatives and next steps” on Thursday 26 August at 11:30 am GMT+1.

This meeting will take place ahead of the Africa Regional Review Conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) with the goal of providing an overview of recent initiatives and share lessons learned that contribute to accelerating the successful implementation of Objective 1 (Data) and Objective 3 (Information provision) of the Global Compact for Migration.

Jointly organized by the UN Network on Migration, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM); held in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), and hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco, the Africa Regional Review Conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration will provide an opportunity to review regional, sub-regional and national progress towards the implementation of the GCM in Africa.
