Djibouti, 24 November 2024 - The African Institute of Economic Development and Planning (IDEP), in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance in charge of Industry, launched on Friday, 24th November in Djibouti, a training session in strategic planning intended for 38 agents from the ministries responsible for planning and key sectors of the government.
Abdourazak Idriss, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, placed this training in the current strategic context of Djibouti marked by the evaluation of the second National Development Plan and the preparation of the third (2025-2029). He insisted on “the need to strengthen capacities to develop an ambitious development plan, while ensuring that these plans are appropriated by local populations”.
Charmarké Idriss Ali, Director General of INAP, recalled the rigorous process carried out by the Ministry of Labor, in collaboration with IDEP, to support INAP to better play its role in strengthening the capacities of Djiboutian citizens, which has allowed the organization of this training. He encouraged active participation in order to guarantee the sustainability of the collaboration with IDEP.
José Barahona, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Djibouti, highlighted the importance of human capital in the development process. He stressed that the participants to this training represent the main actors to translate into concrete actions the vision of the Djiboutian authorities who aspire to make Djibouti a development model comparable to that of Singapore. He reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations System to support the government's efforts in the fight against poverty and the implementation of effective governance for accelerated growth.
Mamadou Cissé, IDEP Training Manager, expressed the Institute's gratitude to the Djiboutian authorities and INAP for their fruitful partnership. He stressed that this training aims to equip participants with the tools and methods necessary to develop effective strategic plans, aligned with Agendas 2030 and 2063, as well as with national priorities, particularly in the context of the development of the National Plan for development (PND) 2025-2029. He also called for collective action to address development challenges and contribute to sustainable economic and social transformation.
This training session is an important step in strengthening institutional capacities to support sustainable development goals in Djibouti and demonstrates the collective commitment of national and international actors for sustainable transformation.
