Rabat, March 8, 2023 (ECA) - The Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of Souissi Rabat will hold on 9-10 March 2023 the 14th edition of the International Colloquium of Rabat under the theme "Trade and investment in a context of crises,” with support from the ECA Office in North Africa.
This event will be held in a hybrid format with the aim of promoting exchanges between African researchers and their counterparts from the Mediterranean region on the impact of the current "poly-crisis" on trade and investment and how global value chains are adapting to international shocks; the social and economic implications of the multiple crises on African countries and especially those in the southern shore of the Mediterranean sea; and identify the challenges that need to be met through multilateral and regional cooperation approaches.
The current "poly-crisis" is made up of multiple crises occurring at the same time (geopolitics, health, climate, food, energy, etc.). In addition to affecting multilateralism and the rule of law in the regulation of international relations, it also threatens SDG implementation, food and energy security and global economic recovery prospects as well as the emergence of developing countries.
The International Colloquium of Rabat is jointly organized by the WTO Chair of the Mohammed V University of Rabat, the WTO Chairs program, the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the Euromed University of Fez, the Souissi Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences, the LaboratoryforApplied Development Economics (LEAD – Toulon University)and the Laboratory of Legal and Political Studies and Research (LERJP, Mohammed V University of Rabat).
The colloquium will be followed on 11 March by a doctoral studies seminar aimed at young researchers.
