ECA and NKC African Economics join forces for study on job creation in Africa

21 May, 2021

Rabat (Morocco), May 21st, 2021: The Economic Commission for Africa and NKC African Economics (an Oxford Economics company) will hold on Wednesday 26 May 2021 a joint webinar under the theme “Best Practices in Job Creation, lessons from Africa.”

Over the last year and a half, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a major negative impact on Africa’s efforts to fight unemployment and underemployment among its population.

The pandemic is currently threatening to push millions of Africans into extreme poverty, erasing at least five years of progress in fighting destitution. Given the continent’s demographic trends, this situation will worsen further if not addressed effectively.

This joint webinar will gather experts’ feedback in preparation for an upcoming study by ECA and NKC African economics on employment initiatives carried out across Africa, and the features and areas of intervention the most successful initiatives have in common.
