About

ECA’s Technology, Innovation, Connectivity and Infrastructure Division (TICID) facilitates the formulation, adoption, and implementation of new technology and innovation policies for African member states towards improving the competitiveness of institutions, welfare of citizens, and collective and individual security.

The division works to enhance the capacity of African Member States to leverage new technologies and innovations through various activities, including intergovernmental convenings, technical support and advisory services, capacity building programmes and research publications.

By fostering dialogue and regulatory processes around digital transformation, the division aims to harmonize regional interoperability, data governance, and cybersecurity frameworks. It facilitates a supportive policy environment conducive to public and private sector investment in new and emerging technologies.

The division also facilitates ECA’s consultations with Ministers of African Member States, civil society, the private sector, and academia. These consultations enable engagement and contributions to global processes and policy frameworks focused on digital governance, including the African Union Digital Transformation Strategy 2030, WSIS+20 Review, regional Internet Governance Forums (IGFs), and the UN Global Digital Compact (GDC), among others.
