Upon request of the Secretary General of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) the Sub-regional Office for Central Africa of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is organizing a series of trainings on the procedures of accreditation to the harmonized ECCAS/CEMAC Preferential Tariff across the subregion.
This is one of several activities to implement the program of a European Union trust fund, project-managed by ECA’s Central Africa Office, for the harmonization of ECCAS-CEMAC trade policy instruments.
The training aims at strengthening the capacity of i) economic operators in preparing their applications for accreditation of their goods to the harmonized ECCAS/CEMAC Preferential Tariff and ii) experts from national administrations on processing applications for accreditation of goods to the harmonized ECCAS/CEMAC Preferential Tariff.
To date, 505 stakeholders have been trained across 7 countries. This activity would enhance the effectiveness of the African Continental Free trade Area (AFCFTA).
