Rabat, 18 April 2022 (ECA) – How did COVID-19 affect North African enterprises? Can countries harness SMEs for a faster economic recovery? How could they do so, and build on such results to reduce youth unemployment?
Join us online on Tuesday 19 April 2022 for the ECA dialogue on “Improving access to finance for SMEs in North Africa for a better post-COVID-19 recovery,” organized by the ECA Office for North Africa.
This event will be an opportunity to highlight post-COVID-19 recovery solutions developed to facilitate firms’ access to finance; analyse new solutions to improve SMEs financing and present an analysis based on primary data collection on North African firms.
Discussion will be informed by three reports produced by the ECA Office for North Africa and its partners, on the asymmetrical impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across the sub-region; government options to preserve and support family-owned firms, the most common form of ownership and management among SMEs in North Africa; and strategies implemented across Africa to mitigate the negative repercussions of COVID19 on youth employment.
The ECA Dialogues are a series of webinars and conferences organized by the Economic Commission for Africa in preparation for the 2022 Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (COM 2022) taking place in Dakar (Senegal) on 11 – 17 May 2022 under the theme “Financing Africa’s recovery: breaking new ground” (Click here for more information).
