WHAT: Launch of the 2022 Financing for Sustainable Development Report: Bridging The Finance Divide
This year’s Financing for Sustainable Development Report issued by the UN Secretary-General’s Inter-Agency Task Force on Financing for Development, will show that the unequal ability to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on the economies and progress of developing countries. The report examines how unfavourable financing terms hinder recovery in developing countries, and sets out concrete recommendations to bridge the financing divide.
WHEN: 11:30 A.M. EDT, 12 April 2022
WHERE: UN Press Briefing Room, S-237
(Live on https://webtv.un.org/)
WHY: While most developed countries have been able to finance a robust recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, fiscal constraints in developing countries have hampered their response and caused a reversal of progress. The lack of affordable financing has worsened their economic
and social prospects and threatens the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
