Online, 25 August 2021 – Migrant employability and its positive impact on their capacity to integrate within host countries will be at the heart of discussions at a round table organized by the Belgian Development Agency ENABEL, ahead of the Africa Regional Review Conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) on Thursday 26 August.
This meeting will be an opportunity for speakers to present lessons learned from initiatives taken to improve migrants’ ability to secure jobs, their success factors and challenges.
The Global Compact for Migration is a cooperative framework for migration governance based on the recognition that no State can address migration alone, and that national migration policies are more likely to succeed through a whole-of-society and whole-of-government approach to international cooperation that is grounded in respect for human rights and the rule of law.
Goal 18 of the Global Compact highlights the importance of finding innovative solutions to promote skills development in sectors which are in-demand in order to improve the employability of migrants on the formal labor market.
Viewers will be able to listen to discussions in English, French, Arabic and Portuguese.
Participants and journalists wishing to get in touch with the organizers for questions or interview requests are invited to send an email to clara.huyghe@enabel.be
