On next Tuesday, 30th november, a former IDEP student will launch the book “The Demise, Alternatives and Rebirth of Planning: The Experience of The Gambia” from 2.30pm to 4.00pm .This book brings together recent research by Mr. Mod. Secka, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education Research Science and technology which attempts to catalogue the planning experience in the Gambia from independence to date as well as details out the limited form of planning in the form of Public Investment Programmes to a full -blown national plan of the First and Second Development Plans. The topic is especially relevant in the context of the current planning by documenting the various plans from independence and full description of the economic history of the Gambia as a background and a means of assessing progress of these plans
