9 September 2022, Addis Ababa, (ECA) - The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa will hold a 3-day Technical Review Panel (TRP) Evaluation Workshop for its AfCFTA-anchored Pharmaceutical Initiative in Kigali, Rwanda from the 13th –15 September 2022. The workshop will be held to review the Expression of Interest proposals submitted for the Local Pharmaceutical Production Pillar of the initiative.
The objective of the workshop is to select local manufacturers based on WHO General Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The selected manufacturers will be eligible to receive technical and financial support from ECA and its partners to scale up production of quality assured medicines and medical products in the continent.
The workshop will be chaired by the World Health Organisation African Region (WHO-AFRO) and technical experts from UNIDO, UNICEF, AUC, AUDA NEPAD, UNFPA, and other development partners will also attend.
