The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will organize the 1st Africa Macroeconomy Day (AMD) on “Advancing Macroeconomic Stability and Growth in Africa: Future-Ready Approaches” on Monday 10th June 2024 in Dakar.
The event will bring together policymakers, practitioners, academia, think tanks, and young economists to foster a deeper understanding of Africa's current macroeconomic situation and prospects.
The specifics objectives of this AMD are to:
- Facilitate knowledge exchange, collaboration, and partnerships among stakeholders committed to advancing Africa's economic agenda.
- Catalyze actionable policy recommendations to address macroeconomic challenges and promote inclusive and sustainable growth and future prosperity in Africa.
Four main outcomes are expected from this inaugural annual conference:
Enhanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with macroeconomic stability and growth in Africa
- Identification of actionable policy recommendations and strategies to address key macroeconomic issues
- Strengthened partnerships and networks among policymakers, practitioners, academia, and stakeholders
- Improved alignment of macroeconomic policies with the SDGs to promote inclusive and sustainable development.
The Africa Macroeconomy Day (AMD) seeks to leverage the collective expertise and experiences of participants to address the complex macroeconomic challenges facing the continent.
