The African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) will welcome the inception meeting of the second phase of the training program on “towards an effective african continental free trade area (AfCFTA)” from 5th to 6th June 2024.
This capacity building program is led by the United Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. It aims to enhance the intra-African trade and the share of global trade of selected countries through inclusive, sustainable, and development-friendly trade arrangements and harnessing the potential of e-trade.
This second phase targets eight African countries including Algeria, Cameroon, Gabon, DRC, Malawi, Mauritania, Zambia and Zimbabwe) and will specifically strengthen capacities of policy makers of selected countries by providing them with high-level specialized training on e-trade, tax, customs, trade issues and legislation and led to the production of Capacity needs guidelines and e-trade readiness report.
The inception meeting intends to bring different parties together to ensure that they understand the expected outputs, timeline as well as how their contributions fit into the overall programme.
