As part of its support to the Government of Niger to strengthen domestic resource mobilization, the Sub-Regional Office for West Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is organizing, from 14 to 25 September 2026 in Niamey, Niger, Phase I of a technical assistance programme aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) in transfer pricing.

This initiative follows the assessment of Niger’s domestic resource mobilization system conducted by ECA in 2025, which highlighted, among other areas, the need to strengthen capacities in international taxation, tax risk analysis and specialized tax audits.

The technical assistance aims to strengthen the DGI’s technical and operational capacities in the administration and control of transfer pricing, thereby contributing to more effective domestic resource mobilization and the progressive alignment of Niger’s tax administration with relevant international standards.

Bringing together 30 DGI officials, Phase I will comprise two five-day modules combining technical presentations, case studies, practical exercises and the use of methodological tools adapted to the Nigerien context. The sessions will focus, among other areas, on functional analysis, transfer pricing methods, comparability analysis, risk assessment, and the treatment of complex transactions in the telecommunications, oil and extractive industries sectors.
