Objective:

The Sub-Regional Office for West Africa of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (SRO-WA/ECA) is organizing a Virtual Pre-Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Dialogue (Pre-COM2025 Dialogue) on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, from 15:00 to 17:00 (GMT+1). This dialogue serves as a prelude to the ECA 2025 Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development (COM2025), which will take place from 12 to 18 March 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme “Advancing the Implementation of the Agreement Establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area: Proposing Transformative Strategic Action”.

The Pre-COM aims to stimulate reflections on the theme of CoM 2025 and define transformative measures to accelerate the implementation of the AfCFTA. It will also discuss key sustainable development issues that can hinder or accelerate the implementation of the AfCFTA agreement, including digitalization, technology, food security and energy transformation, governance and peace and security in West Africa.
