The forthcoming Third session of the Committee on Private Sector Development, Regional Integration, Trade, Infrastructure, Industry and Technology (CPSDTITIIT-3) is scheduled to convene on November 14-15, 2023, at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa. Preceding the session on November 13, 2023, will be Experts Group Meetings (EGMs).
Underpinning the significance of this assembly is the central theme: "Boosting regional integration, infrastructure, trade, and technology towards prosperous and inclusive green industrialization in Africa". The event format is poised to accommodate both in-person and online participation.
The CPSDTITIIT continues to be a vital platform for deliberating on private sector development, regional integration, trade, infrastructure, industry, and technology. Building on the thematic narratives of prior sessions, this meeting confronts the complex interplay of climate change, pandemic-related disruptions, and geopolitical shifts exemplified by the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Objectives
The key objectives for this session encompass the following domains:
- An evaluation of ECA's contributions to inclusive green industrialization.
- An avenue for rigorous dialogue towards consensus on African development priorities.
- A catalyst for tangible advancements at regional and national tiers.
- An exploration of emerging challenges within the purview of member states' progress.
- Guided recommendations to shape the trajectory of forthcoming subprogram work.
Expected Outputs
The outputs of this session are anticipated to comprise a comprehensive synthesis of insights and dialogues in the form of a session report. Detailed reports emanating from the deliberations of the expert group meetings are envisaged to culminate in (i) A refined comprehension of the nuances of green industrialization's challenges and potentials and (ii) pragmatic guidance and directives to inform ECA's strategic initiatives.
Participation
Esteemed participants representing Member States, the African Union Commission, Regional Economic Communities (REC), development finance institutions, United Nations entities, private sector entities, civil society organizations, academia, and sectoral associations are expected to contribute their insights and expertise to enrich the discourse.
