The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has been implementing a UNDA 13th tranche project “Towards an Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF), in collaboration with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Within this project, ECA through its Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SRO-SA) and UNCTAD have conducted jointly capacity building workshops on domestic resource mobilization, illicit financial flows and impact investing and corporate sustainability reporting.
To further strengthen the capacities of the Government of Zambia in the area of mobilizing finance for its sustainable development, a capacity-building workshop on public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Zambia will be organized in Lusaka, Zambia from 12 to 16 February 2024. This workshop is another joint collaboration between UNCTAD and ECA (Subregional Office for Southern Africa and the Private Sector Development and Finance Division) and will focus on the transport sector.
The workshop will build on the "Action Plan for PPP Implementation" developed by ECA, which identified a set of key actions to support the Government of Zambia in improving its capacity to implement and manage sustainable PPPs to close the infrastructure gap and deliver better public services to the population.
The overall objective of the workshop is to provide government officials with the necessary knowledge to further develop and master the skills required to deliver PPP projects that are well-prepared and bankable, but also environmentally and socially sustainable.
A briefing on the UN World Economic Situation and Prospects 2024 report will be held at the margins of the workshop by ECA and DESA.
