Background
Pursuant to the 9th ClimDev-Africa Steering Committee (CDSC9) meeting held in October 2021, the ClimDev-Africa are convened the 10th ClimDev-Africa Steering Committee (CDSC10) meeting in hybrid format on the 3-5 April 2023. The ClimDev-Africa Joint Working Group (JWG) has met on numerous occasions since the 9th Steering Committee meeting to coordinate planning towards realization of the ClimDev-Africa phase II programme.
Specific objectives
The specific objectives of the 10th Meeting of the ClimDev-Africa Steering Committee (CDSC10) are to undertake the following.
- Consider and adopt the provisional agenda;
- Review and approve the implementation of the 9th CDSC meeting recommendations;
- Review and approve a summary of the ClimDev-Africa Phase II Business Plan, which includes the programme resource mobilization, operational arrangements, partnerships strategies and on-going projects under implementation by the three partner institutions;
- Review progress reports since the last CDSC meeting;
- Consider and approve work-plans of the three implementing partners;
- Discuss the modalities of organizing a Resource Mobilization Roundtable before COP28;
- Review the plans for the 10th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-XI) and the preparations for the Africa Pavilion at the COP28.
Expected outcomes
The following results are expected at the end of the meeting.
- Report on the implementation of the recommendations of the 9th CDSC meeting adopted;
- The progress reports on the implementation of the ClimDev-Africa activities since November 2021 reviewed and approved.
- The summary of the ClimDev-Africa Phase II Business Plan approved.
- Resource mobilization strategy approved.
- CCDA-XI and Africa Pavilion at COP28 preparation status discussed.
