15-17 April a Stakeholders' Conference, organized by the African Water Task Force, was held in Accra, Ghana to define Africa's priorities for water and sustainable development. The Conference brought together more than 200 participants from 42 African countries-including representatives from governments, NGOs, universities, river basin organizations, and international organizations working on water. The primary outcome of the Conference was the Accra Declaration, which outlines Africa's primary water challenges and recommendations for action. The Conference was supported by the Government of The Netherlands. The African Development Bank played a central role in organizing the Conference and bringing the key international and regional stakeholders to Accra. IWMI, as part of its secretariat services to the African Water Task Force, published the Declaration. More about Stakeholders' Conference >> Download the Accra Declaration
